Italian beauty company Wycon Cosmetics has come under fire for their marketing black nail polish labeled “30 Thick As A Ni**a”. Forbes reported the company often used “names that are a bit crazy”. The cosmetic company tried to justify its decision saying they often used titles of songs to market some of their products, such as Snoop Doggs ‘Drop It Like Its Hot’, or Beyoncé’s Bootylicious. In this case, the ‘Thick As A Ni**a’ nail polish was influenced by Dbangz Thick Ni**a’.
People used social media to show their outrage and disappointment.

It took days before the company issued an official apology.
“We understand that people were offended about out unappropriated nail lacquer name choice and we feel deeply sorry. We are aware of our social and global responsibility as an international brand and we truly apologize for this incident.
We admit our serious mistake and we recognize we were wrong taking inspiration from names of famous songs, out of their context. We want to underline e are against every kind of discrimination, in fact we are also committed to charity programs and special social projects and in our campaigns we firmly support then idea that beauty has no gender, race or religion, that’s why our claim is #NoOneExcluded.
And now, what can we do to make it right?
We have taken off this disrespectful name form our website and we are gradually doing the same in stores. That kind of error won’t happen again and we will keep on working on our mistakes to improve our brand communication in order not to offend and hurt your sensitivity in the future”
Aware of our social and global responsibility we are deeply sorry.
We strongly believe beauty has no gender, race or religion as already shown in our previous campaigns. Let's say #NoOneExcluded ! We swear this won’t happen anymore. pic.twitter.com/ZyXHTxz1dl— WYCON cosmetics (@wyconcosmetics) January 22, 2018
