This week’s award goes to Lara Trump who heard “Obama Presidential Center” and immediately screamed:
“Taxpayers paid for the whole thing!”
Not so fast.
Because reality showed up with receipts.
š§ THE PROBLEM
The actual center was built primarily with private donations.
The surrounding roads, infrastructure, and public improvements involved taxpayer dollars.
Those are two different things.
Apparently, some people saw the word “infrastructure” and decided that meant:
“Yep. Same thing.”

“Nuance was found dead at the scene.”
“Reading past the headline remains undefeated.”
“The fact-check lasted longer than the claim.”
“Complex topics and simple talking points remain bitter enemies.”
When a story requires three sentences to explain and somebody squeezes it into one misleading sentence…
