The leader of the UKIP (United Kingdom Independent Party) Henry Bolton, broke up with his girlfriend after racist remarks about Meghan Markle were discovered. The Daily Mail reported that 25 year old Jo Marney had sent several text messages to a friend making racial comments about Black people. Prince Harry is engaged and set to marry Meghan, whom is biracial.
Marney made comments like she would never “with a negro” When her friend asked her “what’s wrong with black people?” Marney replied with “ugly’ Harry’s marrying. God!” “Wet as a scrubber. Awful” Oxford dictionary describes the British meaning for ‘scrubber’ as a vulgar woman having many sexual relationships. Marney continued calling Meghan “a gender equality t***”, “Just a dumb little commoner. Tiny brain”. When the friend replied that she was racist, Marney text back “Not wanting other races and cultures to invade your own culture doesn’t mean I hate their race. Just means I don’t want their culture invading mine”. Marney also suggested that Meghan marrying Prince Harry could lead to a Muslim PM or a black king.

Daily Mail reported that when they asked Marney about the text messages, she apologized saying “‘I apologize unreservedly for the shocking language I used. The opinions I expressed were deliberately exaggerated in order to make a point and have, to an extent, been taken out of context. Yet I fully recognize the offence they have caused. No offence was intended and, again, I apologize unreservedly for any such offence or hurt that my messages have caused to members of the public, members of UKIP my friends, family and loved ones. I have disappointed them all and let myself down. I cannot sufficiently express my regret and sadness at having done so.” Marney’s comments outrages the UKIP, and was suspended from the political party.
Bolton was pressured by his party to take some kind of action, they really wanted him to resign from his position as leader of UKIP. Bolton, 54, was already under scrutiny for leaving his wife and two children. Some believe his relationship with Marney caused the break up, but Bolton insist that the relationship with the younger Marney started after he split with his wife. Bolton has ended his relationship with Marney.
