As of April 21, 2026, the investigation into Houston Police Officer 

Ashley Gonzalez remains active, with the department focusing on verifying the authenticity of a viral video. While HPD has officially relieved her of duty, they have not yet publicly confirmed that 

Gonzalez is the person seen in the footage. The video features a woman repeatedly using racial slurs and describing her use of that language toward a suspect during an arrest, stating she felt “at peace” afterward. HPD has not specified a timeline for the investigation or whether they are reviewing her past cases, and it remains unclear if she will face further disciplinary action beyond her current status.
